Abstract:

Background: World Health Organization's Healthy Workplace Framework and Model has emphasized addressing PSYCHOSOCIAL work STRESSORS as one of the important avenues toward creating a conducive workplace. Management and interventions of these adverse STRESSORS have been unremarkable; impairing work productivity. Objective: To explore the effect of PSYCHOSOCIAL work STRESSORS on health service productivity. Methods: Using Copenhagen PSYCHOSOCIAL Questionnaire II and Healthcare Productivity Survey, a cross-sectional study was conducted on 225 health and allied health professionals in the largest referral hospital in Brunei. Multiple linear regression was used to explore the relationship of each domain of work productivity to indicators of PSYCHOSOCIAL work STRESSORS. Results: PSYCHOSOCIAL work STRESSORS explained more than 50% of the variance for health care productivity. Influence at work, role clarity, rewards and job satisfaction were among the factors with the highest contributions to this relationship. Conclusion: Crucial factors were identified and discussed, however, due to complexity of this relationship, international collaborations and efforts are required to ameliorate adverse effects of PSYCHOSOCIAL STRESSORS and improve health service productivity.

Abstract:

Objective: Addiction is one of the most vulnerable social issues and the tendency to it involve several factors, including PSYCHOSOCIAL STRESSORS (life unpleasant events), and inability to deal with these STRESSORS and the belief that drug use will lead to the desired result. This study was conducted to determine the relationship between PSYCHOSOCIAL STRESSORS and vulnerability to drug abuse among students. Methods: This research was a correlational study. In this study, 483 male students from Salmas City (West Azerbaijan Province) high schools were selected by multi-stage cluster sampling. Then, the questionnaire to identify people at risk of addiction and also perceptions of stressful events questionnaire were conducted to them. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation and simultaneous regression analysis. Statistical analysis were performed using the SPSS 20.Results: The results showed that among these variables, STRESSORS associated with solution of unpleasant events have the greatest ability to predict vulnerability to addiction. Next, STRESSORS related to lack, positively predict vulnerability to addiction. Conclusion: The present study showed that PSYCHOSOCIAL STRESSORS can contribute to the vulnerability of adolescents to addiction.

Abstract:

Bank employees, due to the nature of their work experience have high levels of job stress. One of the outcomes of stress is its impact on job performance. This study was conducted to investigate the relationship between the PSYCHOSOCIAL STRESSORS and job performance among bank employees in one of the banking centers of the state. This cross-sectional study was conducted among bank employees of west Azerbaijan; 2014. All bank employees participated in this study. The general Nordic questionnaire (QPS Nordic) and human resource productivity questionnaire were used for data collection. The correlation coefficient and regression models were used to examine the relationship between job stress and their scales as an independent variable and performance as a dependent variable. In order to analyze further, structural equation models were used. The results suggested that prevalence of stress among bank employees was in average level (46.6%). There was negative and significant relationship between stress in "task", "social and organizational" levels and job performance. Among the scales of social and organizational levels, the two scales of organizational culture and leadership revealed negative and significant relationships with job performance (P<0.01). A socio-organizational domain can be considered as the main cause of loss of productivity. Hence, measures were suggested towards making further attempts to control the PSYCHOSOCIAL factors in workplaces and avoid performance deterioration, particularly in organizational culture and leadership.

Abstract:

Introduction: Bank staff experience high level of job stress due to the nature of their work. One of the consequences of stress is its impact on job performance. Since the internal studies in this area are relatively rare, this study was conducted to investigate the relationship between the PSYCHOSOCIAL STRESSORS and job performance among bank staff.Materials and Methods: All staff of the bank branches participated in this study. The General Nordic Questionnaire and Human Resource Productivity Questionnaire were used for data collection. The correlation coefficient and regression models were employed to examine the relationship between job STRESSORS and their scales as independent variables and job performance as the dependent variable. Furthermore, in order to accurately assess the relations between variables, structural equation models were utilized. Results: The results revealed that the prevalence of stress among bank staff was in moderate level (46.6%). Meanwhile, there was a negative and significant relationship between stress in "task domain" and "socio-organizational domain" and job performance. Among the measures in socio-organizational domain, organizational culture and leadership showed highly negative and significant relationships with job performance (p=0.001).Conclusion: According to the obtained results, socio-organizational domain can be considered as the main cause of loss of productivity. Hence, it is suggested to make further attempts to control the PSYCHOSOCIAL factors in workplaces and avoid performance deterioration, particularly in organizational culture and leadership measures.
